LNB Round 2: Reales outscore Indios

There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Regular Season in LNB. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Reales defeated Indios in La Vega 98-91. Reales made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. Reales outrebounded Indios 44-30 including 18 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was Rigoberto Mendoza (187-1992) who had a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds. Gerard Devaught chipped in 18 points and 12 rebounds. Guard Juan Suero (196-1993) produced 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Indios will play next round against Marineros trying to get back on the winning streak. Reales will try to continue on its current victory against Soles in Santo Domingo.
Metros recorded a loss in San Cristobal. Visitors were edged by Titanes 93-92. Henry Valdez saved the victory by scoring 30 points. Randy Bautista contributed with 9 points, 5 rebounds and 11 assists for the winners. point guard Adris De Leon (180-1984, college: EWU) replied with 28 points for Metros. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Titanes will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Metros will play on the road against Soles in Santo Domingo and hope to get back on the winning track.
An interesting game took place in Puerto Plata where Leones edged by one point Marineros 73-72 on Thursday night. Eulis Baez had a double-double by scoring 11 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners. Marcus Rhett responded with 14 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Leones' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Santo Domingo .

Rest of the games of round 2 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
winless Caneros were defeated by Soles in Santo Domingo 99-94. Leones were beaten by Metros at home 86-90. Titanes were destroyed by Marineros on the opponent's court 85-66.
The best stats of 2nd round was 17 points and 17 rebounds by Carlton Bragg Jr of Marineros.

Marineros - Leones 72-73

An interesting game took place in Puerto Plata where Leones edged by one point Marineros 73-72 on Thursday night. Leones looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Naturalized Spanish Eulis Baez (201-1982, college: W.Illinois) had a double-double by scoring 11 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and American guard Austin Ajukwa (201-1995, college: Charlotte) chipped in 14 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Five Leones players scored in double figures. American forward Marcus Rhett (190, college: Alfred St.) responded with 14 points and 7 rebounds and his fellow American import Kerwin Roach II (192-1996, college: Texas) scored 12 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Leones' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Santo Domingo .

Soles used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from La Romana 99-94 on Friday night. American Tim Bond (201-1995, college: EMU) scored 21 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and naturalized American Gerardo Suero (196-1989, college: Albany) chipped in 22 points (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) during the contest. Bond is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Soles' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Yeison Colome (190-1996) responded with 23 points and naturalized Spanish Jhonatan Araujo (208-1996) scored 16 points and 8 rebounds. Five Soles and four Caneros players scored in double figures. Soles will meet at home Metros in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Caneros will play against Indios and hope to win that game.

There was a surprise result in Santo Domingo where Metros defeated Leones 90-86 on Saturday. Metros made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Metros made 7 blocks. American Brandon Moss (208, college: LSUA) had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Adris De Leon (180-1984, college: EWU) chipped in 18 points and 8 assists during the contest. Four Metros players scored in double figures. Juan Guerrero (205-1993) responded with 33 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds and American-Ukrainian Steve Burtt (189-1984, college: Iona) scored 20 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Metros will meet Soles in the next round. Leones will have a break next round.

There was a minor upset in Puerto Plata where Titanes were rolled over by Marineros 85-66 on Saturday. Marineros outrebounded Titanes 44-33 including 30 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The game was dominated by American players. Carlton Bragg Jr (208-1995, college: N.Mexico) had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 17 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and forward Marcus Rhett (190, college: Alfred St.) chipped in 22 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Rhett is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Four Marineros players scored in double figures. Jordan Williams (198-1992, college: N.Texas) responded with 22 points and Keith Jordan (198-1998, college: SHU) scored 10 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Marineros will meet Indios in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Titanes will have a break next round.
